Fat Loss For Females Over 40
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008By Gina Hobbs When I was 20 years old I heard that things change once a woman hits her 30s. At the time it seemed too far off to worry about. So I didnt. I gave birth to the last of my four children at the age of 32, and things definitely changed! The weight didnt come off as easy. I was tired and depressed and finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with my family. I tried everything to lose my pregnancy weight: - Low Carb Diet - Low Fat Diet - Glycemic Index - Negative Calorie Foods - Watching Weighters - Slim Slow You name it, I have tried it. With each passing failed attempt I was getting softer. Even when my weight did go down a bit, I could tell that my muscle tone was disappearing, and my doctor expressed her concern over the possibility of osteoporosis. I was sad, depressed and fat! Things had changed once I turned 30.could the hands of time ever be turned back? Would I ever regain my strength and energy? Was I destined to a life of stretch pants? ABSOLUTELY NOT! With a bit of research I came across the most amazing information! I did not have to remain a fat and tired mommy! I could lose the fat, gain my energy in my 30s and BEYOND! Women store fat so that they can nurse babies. Unfortunately it does not magically disappear once our child-bearing years are behind us. It also does not disappear with spot-reducing exercise.and if you are starving yourself, you are ENCOURAGING your body to store fat! Do not despair! There is a simple, no-nonsense approach to fat loss for mature women! You can eat delicious foods ALL DAY LONG and never feel deprived! Regain your energy and bone mass ! Look and feel years younger! No matter your age or current fitness level, you can get as lean as you want with the right information. This information isnt running along side the fast food commercials on your television, nor is it on late night infomercials, but this information is life changing! I lost 50 lbs. and went from a sick and tired housewife to a very active and productive personal trainer! I am enjoying life and you can too! Simple things you can do to lose fat at any age: 1. MOVE: As we get older for some reason we naturally become more sedentary. This can be attributed to a number of reasons: Empty Nest Syndrome, painful joints, depression, etc. I believe the BEST thing you can do to cope with not only weight gain but also painful joints and mood elevation is exercise. The old saying Move it or Lose it is true! Start by walking each day.it doesnt have to be a long walkjust get out. You will soon find that the more you do, the more you will want to do.2. WHOLE FOODS: Get away from the processed foods Americans have come accustomed to. Instead of the apple pie, have a baked apple, or better yet a fresh raw one! Opt for a HUGE baked potato rather than French Fries. These changes might seem challenging at first, but even the smallest changes done consistently will change the way you look and feel.3. WATER: Stay hydrated. Water is vital to good health. Aim for 8 glasses of water a day in addition to your coffee and tea. Make it special with lemon and lime wedges.4. SLEEP: Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep. This is when the body repairs itself. When rest is not a priority, the body becomes stressed and prone to not only weight gain, but infection. Remember, life is what you make of it. Wise choices make a sound mind and strong, lean and healthy bodyat any age! Gina Hobbs is a Personal Fitness Trainer and Specialist in Sports Nutrition.
