By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Keith_Rickwood]Keith Rickwood Everyone knows the importance of mobile phones. From communication to entertainment and information, your phone provides everything for you. Its true that with technological advancement, latest mobile phones offer many features that are at par with a computer, but when it comes to uses, the basic and the most important function of mobile phone is communication. In the UK, there are six major network service providers. Whether you buy a contract mobile phone or a pay-as-you-go phone, network providers offer you the service. Most of the mobile users prefer contract mobile phones because of some obvious advantages that your service provider may offer you. Under the contract mobile phone deals, there are several tariff plans that you need to choose. These tariff plans differ with the handset type and the contract period. Under a particular tariff plan you will have to pay a fixed monthly line rental for say, 12 months or 18 months. The network service provider in return may offer you free handset, free text, free insurance, or free monthly line rental or cashback offer. Cash back or line rental reduction schemes are offered by the network service providers to the consumer who get attached with a particular network under a particular contract plan such as 12 month or 18 month contracts. After the completion of the contract period, a customer can claim for cashback on the due date. Under some terms and conditions, if the consumer fulfils all the criteria, he or she will get back the cash. That’s again one of the reasons why consumers go for contract mobile phone deals. Being one of the most inevitable gadgets in the present time, anyone can afford a mobile phone if you have plans like cashback offers. Choose the handset and the plan and get connected with a particular network. Enjoy the service and the cost-effective plan and keep talking whenever and wherever you go. Barbara

Friday, October 19th, 2007

By Benjamin Cox I have many lingering thoughts of both good and bad times while living with the Baptist Home (1953-61) family in Monticello, Arkansas. I would place this next story in the category with the good times. Donald Dodson is not remembered as a close friend. The truth is, I have very few memories of him at all. However, there is one weekend (1957) in Blytheville, Arkansas when we were thrown together in a most unusual circumstance. That is, most unusual by The Baptist Home standards. My memory is not too clear as to why we were there. I had been traveling with a representative group around the state all summer, singing duets with Glen Lindsay, Pat Price and others. Donald might have been along for the ride or to give a speech about the home. I just do not remember. What I do remember is that there were three of us teenagers on the trip, Donald, Barbara Price, Pat’s older sister and me. I dont remember Barbara normally being along on the trips herself, but Pat was having a problem with her nose and throat that prevented her from singing up to her usual high standards and Barbara may have been filling in for her. I’m still having a little difficulty recalling all the details, but hey! That was more than forty years ago. Anyway, one evening a boy, in his late teens came over to visit the family with whom we were staying. Actually, he came to visit the woman of the house’s daughter (Alice?). I’ll call the boy, Joe. That evening everyone enjoyed a wonderful supper as we sit around a long table passing food back and forth, stuffing our guts, talking and just plain having a great time. Most everyone had finished eating but continued to hang around the table visiting when I noticed a biscuit on a platter at the far end of the table. I have always been a hearty eater and that night was no exception. Therefore, I ate right up to the point of noticing that single solitary biscuit and stopped. My stomach wasnt ready however and I kept watching the plate cradling that one last biscuit, hoping it would get in someone’s way and they would pass it a little closer down the table in my direction. Well it never did and I never mustered up the courage to ask. Therefore, I suffered through part one of my little story. Part two, now that is another matter and I will get to it in a minute. Remember Joe and Alice? Well they were getting rather close over in a corner by the fire and everyone else found a comfortable place to sit (or lie) down and had begun to watch TV. The older couple retired after a bit, at least they disappeared into the back of the house and I suppose Donald, Barbara and I were feeling somewhat like knots on a log, not knowing what to do or where to do it at. Meanwhile Joe and Alice continuing to cozy up by the fireplace. Anyway, some time passed when all of a sudden Alice broke the silence. “Do you kids want to go for a ride? She asked. I don’t recall if the older couple gave their permission or not. Still the five of us ambled out to the garage and crawled into a big black fifty model Buick that was parked out there. Up in the front seat, Joe took the wheel with Alice at his side. There was plenty of room in the back so Donald jumped in first, taking the seat behind the driver. Barbara crawled into the middle and I took the window on the right. After leaving the house, we drove around very little, mostly in a straight line to the city park where Joe stopped the car in a secluded spot and switched off the lights. The night was dark but for a few rays from a street lamp located a short distance away. Joe turned slowly to stare at the three of us for a moment. “You kids ok”, he asked, smiling. Donald and I were thirteen while Barbara was a very mature fourteen. He turned back to the front without waiting for an answer and proceeded to put his arm around Alice. They began to kiss. There was a foot of space on either side of Barbara separating the three of us from each other. I don’t know who made the first move, Barbara, Donald or me. But the distance soon diminished when a beautiful fourteen-year-old girl began teaching a couple of thirteen-year-old boys a thing or two about girls. Of course in those days, things were not as they are today. We mostly kissed. I do, however, remember it as an experience ranked up there with some of the best sexual experiences of my life. Barbara could sure kiss. The next morning, on our trip back to Monticello, I felt very sick (love sick). There we were with Barbara evenly spaced between Donald and I in the back seat of a car. But this time, Joe and Alice are not in the front seat. Therefore, we cannot touch this beautiful girl, just inches away as had been the night before. Our chaperon, Mrs. Jones turned toward the back seat and stared for a moment. “You kids alright? she asked. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were nice people and I enjoyed traveling with them immensely but they really didn’t know our feelings that day as the three of us replied in unison, “yes!” Benjamin J Cox is an author, novelist, poet, speaker, writer and humorist. Starting Seeds Indoors

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

By Paul Wonning Starting seeds indoors is an integral part of gardening. Most avid gardeners want to start their own seeds. The reasons for doing so include both economy and variety. It is simply much more economical to grow your own plants from seeds, especially if you have a large vegetable or flower garden and use many flats of seedlings. The variety of seeds available from seed catalogs is nothing short of amazing, and the large majority of the seeds offered are not grown and offered as plants by the major greenhouse growers, and thus not found in garden centers in the spring. Starting seeds indoors seems like a daunting project to the uninitiated, but is really easy if you have the right tools. Most of us don’t have the luxury of having a greenhouse to start our seeds in, or if we do we may not want to start heating it as early as some seeds need to be started. Seeds come in all sizes and shapes, but all, with some exceptions, need the same basic requirements to germinate properly. Heat, light, and moisture, if supplied in the correct balance, will allow most seeds to start quickly and efficiently. Perhaps the easiest seed starting tool to use is a seed starting mat for use indoors in a window or on the floor near a patio door. These mats are available from most seed companies, and will supply the necessary gentle bottom heat required for most annual flowers and vegetable plants. Some of these are offered as kits which include a flat, clear plastic dome, and inserts. Some of these seed starting kits may also include labels. In addition to the kit, you will need a good quality seed starting medium. Soil for starting seeds is usually a bit finer textured than standard soil mix and it must be sterile to avoid damping off and other common seed germination problems. A mister capable of producing a fine mist is also a good item to have to water seedlings. Using a fine mist to water new seedling is important, because many are quite small and may be drowned with too much water. Starting your own seeds indoors need not seem a daunting task. Seed germination is an integral and exciting part of gardening which is easy with the right tools. 2006Paul Wonning is the owner of Gardens and Nature.com a web site about gardening, hiking and other nature related topics. Stop and Go Marketing

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

By Beth Woodward Stop and Go marketing and ENERGY go hand in hand. Stop and Go marketing says what it is. We go out to market for time periods and then we get busy with our work and stop marketing. Here is the problem with that. Using the example of a funnel filled with clients and business contacts, when we stop marketing the funnel becomes empty over a time period. When the clients dry up we go back to our funnel, which is empty and once again, we panic and rush out to market. Are you familiar with the word and concept of retention? It means keeping your current clients rather than losing them and having to find new ones. It costs a company quite a bit less to keep a customer than it does to go get a new one. With marketing your business, it takes quite a bit less energy to keep the flow of contacts and clients coming through the funnel than it does to have the funnel empty only to begin again. Here is a great example of a metaphor that we experience everyday. I was on the way to my hair appt this month. I chose to take the side roads rather than the freeway. I noticed with each block I had to either take my foot off the gas and slow down to yield or I had to come to a complete stop. In any case, I was using more gas to get moving again. At each stop I noticed two types of moving forward. I could either push on the gas slowly to continue or I had to peel out to beat the traffic. Either way I had to start again from a stop. Had I taken the freeway (after rush hour) my drive would have been consistent and I would have used less gas. Or, in marketing terms, less energy. Are you marketing… * on the side roads or * the freeway? Consistency will keep your marketing funnel filled and you will have more energy to put into your business. There is a perspective and a truth to a statement I heard from a successful business owner. Marketing is your job. What you “do” is the cherry on top. What he’s saying is this. When you are not out “doing” your business, you should be marketing. Keeping that focus, your funnel will be filled and you will not experience Stop and Go Marketing. There are many other reasons we stop our marketing. Here are a few from entrepreneurs like yourself. * I don’t know how. We can actually stop marketing for a while and then we think we don’t know how. This reaction can stem from the next bullet point. * Fear. If it’s been a while since we have marketed that ‘freezing up’ syndrome can creep back in. TRUST yourself — you DO know how! * Frustration. It’s not working. Have you tried something for a while and itdoesn’t seem to be working. That’s what marketing can be — a trial and error with our services and products. After a while you will learn what works and what doesn’t with each piece that you offer. Once you find what works, STICK TO IT! * No Time. We’re working so hard and such long hours, there is no time to get out and meet new contacts. Suggestion: Create a short block of time to address envelopes to previous clients. Put stamps on them with your return address label. Have your note cards next to your envelopes. Take a break and jot a quick handwritten note to say hello and send it off. You have continued your marketing and keeping your funnel filled. * I don’t have a plan. Part of planning is having a plan that fits your style. Not everyone works well from Structured Plan A. You might need a more creative plan. Something fun that will keep you motivated and focused. That is the key, motivation and focus along with a plan that fits your style. Let’s summarize. Stop and Go Marketing… * Drains our funnel of contacts as well as our energy. * Creates reactions of: I don’t know, Fear, Frustration, No time, No plan Consistent Marketing… * Keeps our contact funnel filled which gives us a nice flow of customers and income * Keeps the negative reactions away and promotes energy Remember, we all need to market in order to have a financially success business. It’s your choice on how you want to market and what type of approach and plan will help you succeed with ease, energy and excitement. Easy Way to Avail Loans - Online Unsecured Loans

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Natasha_Anderson]Natasha Anderson Many of us do not prefer to take any risk with our property while applying for a loan. For them unsecured loan is the best one. These loans are mainly provided without any collateral, so all sorts of borrowers, whether he is a homeowner or tenant can apply for these loans. But availing a loan is not as easy as it sounds. It takes times and borrowers need to take some effort for getting a good deal. However, many borrowers cannot get time for finding a good deal. In that case, they can opt for online unsecured loans. Like other unsecured loans, provided by traditional lenders, online unsecured loans have same facility. With these loans one can access the amount ranged from ₤5,000 to ₤25000 for 5-10 years. The interest rate of these loans is relatively high due to the absence of security, but sometimes a bit search helps borrowers to get the loan at flexible rate of interest. Now the point is why one should go for online unsecured loans? Is any extra benefit provided with these loans? To discuss these points, we need to highlight on the process of online unsecured loans. In order to get an online unsecured loan one just needs to click the mouse. Here it is necessary to mention that online option is available for 24*7. So a borrower can apply for these loans at any time from any where. Nevertheless, various reputed online sites are providing unsecured loans. Accessing these sites is easy and less time consuming. Moreover, with online option borrowers can compare various loan quotes within a minimum time and easily can get the best deal. Application process of online unsecured loans is also simple. Here, borrowers do not need to execute extra paperwork, but they only need to fill up an online application form with some information of their employment status, residential address etc. Altogether it takes hardly 15-30 minutes to fill up the application form. Next within a day or two the representative of the lending company contacts borrowers with the appropriate deal. So the entire process is totally hassle free and less time consuming. One can use these loans for various purposes, like pursuing higher study, setting up a new business, making holiday trip and many more. But do not think that as it is unsecured loan then in case of failing it wont be a problem. Yes it is true that there is no question of collateral repossession with these loans, but if anyone fails to repay the amount then lenders will take some legal action that can endanger the borrowers life. So it is better to ask for the amount that will suit everyones repayment capacity. After having herself gone through the ordeal of loan borrowing, Natasha Anderson understands the need for good quality loan advice. 5 Steps To Using A Recipe For Creating Easy Meals That Your Family Won’t Run From!

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

By Floyd B. Creating a meal that won’t scare off your Family is not all that hard to do. With the right information, in the form of a recipe and the right tools for the job, you could cook up a culinary delight that is both fast and easy. More and more these days it is harder to get your family to sit down together for a meal. We all know that time spent together at the dinning table is so important for getting caught up on the days events. To be able to find out what has and will go on in our family’s life, outside the safety of our homes. Especially with all the bad influences in this world today it just makes it vitally important to have this time together. But all the wishing in the world, won’t make it happen if you and your family think you can’t boil water. For instance does your Children go to the neighbor’s home for a meal, rather than eat what you have cooked? Then maybe what you need is some simple steps to follow, some basic knowledge in the art of preparing meals, some practice, a little patience and a guinea pig would not hurt. Need one, why not check to see if that neighbor is available for lunch. That way when you do decide you will cook a meal, and you follow these easy steps, then your family won’t have a reason to call 911 when you call them to eat. So with that said here is the Easy Step To Your Culinary Success. Step 1. The most IMPORTANT step of all is for you to sit down with your recipe and read it all the way through until you understand everything. If by some chance it has a part you just can’t figure out call a friend and ask, or do some research. Don’t just skip it because you can’t figure it out. What would happen if you where making Homemade Bread, and the recipe called for you to let the dough rise? So not knowing that it meant, to let the dough sit in a warm place till it doubles or more in size. Instead you take it to mean raising the loaf over your head. Guess what, you just made a brick to fix your walkway with. So understanding what your recipe is telling you to do with each step is the most IMPORTANT step. Step 2. Get the tools and utensils that you will need to create your masterpiece. Having the proper instruments for the job is vital. Think of it like this, if you want to bake an Apple Bundt Cake, you need a special pan, but instead you baked it in a regular pan, well then it’s just a Apple Cake. Also if you didn’t follow the instructions or you skipped a step that the recipe called for, then just maybe you have made a very Heavy Frisbee. Step 3. Gather all the correct Ingredients. Imagine trying to make a Ham and Cheese Omelet, and you only have cream cheese. Yummy! And FYI freshness does count. For example, eggs that won’t break when you drop them, its probably a safe bet that they are NO GOOD. Step 4. Start with Step 1 and finish it, then do Step 2 and finish it, do this till you have completed everything the recipe calls for. Has long as you don’t skip a step and you do what it says, and presuming that it was a good recipe to begin with, you should do just fine. STEP 5. In the beginning this step is going to be the most difficult part of your meal for you to accomplish, getting the Family to trust your new found talents. You may want to try bribery, or maybe deception, tell them it’s take out. Then after the meal and they enjoyed it drop the bomb shell, and take your bow. Provided they did enjoy, if not practice some more and tell them not to worry you won’t go to that restaurant for anymore take out! So that’s all there is to it. Cooking a meal that your family will enjoy and that is healthy is not all that difficult. It just takes practice, patience and for you to follow the steps outlined above. Just like anything else in Life, cooking is a skill that anyone can learn and master if given a chance. I have created a Free eCookbook with some Recipes that are fun and easy to make. Online Dating Safety

Friday, October 12th, 2007

By Tony Cohn Think it’s time to meet that special someone that you have been chatting online with, in person? Sure, you will take the basic precautions like telling a friend where you will be and meeting in a public place, but is that really enough? Here are six of the most common pitfalls associated with Internet dating. 1. Scams Many people have lost thousands of dollars or valuable property to people that they have met on the internet. Be very wary of anyone that asks for money or “falls in love” too soon. 2. Stalking Think that the anonymity afforded by the internet can protect you? It can’t. If you hand over personal information such as telephone number, address or e-mail you are a prime candidate for being stalked. Don’t ever give out your personal information to anyone online until you can verify their background and intentions. 3. Violence Far too many people have been physically assaulted by people they have met online. Many dangerous people with criminal records are using the Internet to prey on innocent victims. 4. Mental and Emotional Abuse Abuse is not confined to physical injury. A great majority of people have been harassed, humiliated, terrorized and threatened via online communications. 5. Identity Theft Once again, never give out your personal information to anyone online. Many unscrupulous individuals will try to gain your trust in order to steal your identity. 6. Adultery Up to 30% of people using Internet dating services is married. Though no method is fail-safe, many of the dangers listed above can be avoided by doing a background check on anyone you plan on meeting. Tip: If you are an avid online dater, save money and purchase a membership from an online background check company. Memberships let you perform multiple background checks for up to a month for one low price. Blended Bride: Keeping the Peace On Your Big Day

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

By Dawn Miller Your Mom says she wont come to the wedding if your Dad is there. Uncle Ferdies ex-wife is a life-long friend to you, but you know it will upset Uncle Ferdie and other relatives if you invite her to the wedding. Dad says he wont ask his wife to skip the reception and sit in the back of the church to keep from upsetting Mom. Your sister is refusing to let her daughter be your flower girl because you invited her ex-husband to the ceremony. Does it sound familiar? Then you might be a bride with the blended family blues. The reality is that many brides today face unprecedented challenges in navigating the treacherous terrain of family life. With about half of todays marriages ending in divorce there is a plethora of jilted spouses, scheming cousins and hurt feelings running amok. Even the simplest wedding celebrations with a few family twists - can turn any sane woman into a bridezilla. As a first-time bride marrying a man with three children even I had a few of these monsters to stare down. If my grooms father attended the wedding, his mother would not come. A divorce in the family had split a branch of cousins in two my mom didnt see how we could invite the ex half of the equation now. Whats a bride to do to find peace and have a wonderful wedding day? #1 - Bury your own hatchet and keep perspective. The bride is the center of attention on her big day but not the universe. A wedding is a celebration of love and happiness not a weapon for wielding and wounding. Your wedding is not the time to remind your sister about the great guy she divorced, or to snub your dads wife or mothers new husband. Even if you blackmail one or both parents into ditching their current spouses during the ceremony, the emotional repercussions of wedding invitations can ring for years. Think about the atmosphere you want to set for your guests. It may please you to no end to keep him or her” from sitting down front next to your parents, but consider your guests and their feelings. Think about the legacy you want to build as you create a new family. #2 - If you want for your wedding to be a family occasion, then treat it like one and honor your relatives. Honor your relatives by inviting them and their current spouses. Part of honoring relatives is to respect their relationship choices. Even if you are friends with your sisters ex-husband and have coffee every week with Uncle Ferdies jilted wife, the reality is that you owe respect to the relationships your family members have chosen to formalize and de-formalize. Formalized family relationships rank higher on the pecking order than friends of the family which is a status ex-spouses slide into by default. If someone has divorced his/her spouse, inquire discreetly about their feelings on a wedding invitation for the ex. Some people may not care if their ex-spouse is invited. Others may request that their ex-spouse be invited to only the ceremony or seated as a friend and not with the family. Some will request that their ex-spouse not be invited at all and be miffed that you would even suggest such a thing. If you opt not to invite the ex-spouse, have a private lunch or get-together to celebrate your nuptials. And explain the situation most will understand. If you dont know them well enough to get together privately you probably dont know them well enough to invite them to the wedding anyway. #3 - Ask your relatives to not carry their personal battles with other relatives into your wedding. Ask your parents to stop working out their own divorce and to bury their respective hatchets for one day. If Aunt Martha and Cousin Vinny dont get along, seat them at separate tables and tell them both that the dance floor in between is a demilitarized zone that is not to be crossed. Don’t give into blackmail by your relatives that force you to choose between people who are legitimately related to you. In our own case of wedding dtente. My husband and I opted to invite both of his parents. Due to distance and illness, one of his parents could not attend. We felt good about being able to honor all our parents with invitations and not having to choose between them. There are no easy solutions to the tangled emotional maelstrom that swirls around the average wedding. The best advice proceed with caution. Keeping Children Entertained and Safe at Weddings

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

By Jenny Guazo Weddings are a family time, a time to catch up with friends and families in order to celebrate a new beginning. However we have all been at that memorable wedding where the children have run riot and taken over during the festivities. Some children may be kept occupied with special roles such as page boy, flower girl and ring bearer and the responsibility for the behaviour of the smallest of the wedding party lies with the chief bridesmaid/matron of honour. But what strategies can the bride and groom put into place to keep the remaining little angels entertained during the reception? The following are some ideas that dont cost the earth but will go to ensuring that all of the guests have a lovely time. During the ceremony Many children will be able to stay entertained by the novelty of the occasion. For a young child their special cuddly toy or blanket is a must, games that beep and squeak should be left at home. During the reception Many brides and grooms spend a lot of time and money on creating favors for the wedding party but often dont include items for children. Wedding Party Bags themed for children are easy to put together and dont have to be expensive. Children can be entertained for ages with a blank piece of paper and pencils. At the start of the speeches, a time when many children get restless, a colouring competition could be announced. This will keep many entertained especially if they know that there will be prizes at the end. In addition the bride and groom will have additional keepsakes if the drawing theme is about the wedding. As a word of caution stickers may be a party bag favourite but not for weddings - they may be stuck on regrettable places such as the brides dress! Plates/Glasses Children under 5 years may need either plastic glasses arranged or straws. For young children paper plates may also be more suitable. Balloons are a common feature of many weddings, but rather than have your smaller guests upset your dcor ensure that you tie a balloon to the back of each childs chair. Babies. If there are young babies at the reception remember to make arrangements for heating up baby food and bottles. A little extra preparation to ensure that there are adequate nappy changing facilities will also be appreciated. Young babies will be too small for party bags but a special bib or small age suitable toy makes a lovely finishing touch. Wedding cake. If you are having a traditional iced fruitcake only the most adventurous child will partake. But children love cake and it is always a shame that they miss out on something that is a very adult taste. For 5 minutes effort some homemade or shop bought gingerbread men, or other such kiddies treats, would go down well. Dancing. If there is going to be a disco or band remember to include some popular dances for the children. Towards the end of the evening it is time to help parents calm down over excited little wedding guests. A couple of popular dvds and a portable player, if there are no facilities at the reception, will help achieve this as long as there is a responsible person to help oversee them. Loans for Pending Lawsuits

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kevin_Stith]Kevin Stith There are many types of cases that qualify for loans for pending lawsuits, including personal injury cases such as automobile accidents; malpractice as in medical-legal, accounting, or construction; wrongful termination; discrimination; harassment; and much more. Lawsuit funding is available in most states and can be a very beneficial source of funds. The fees charged by lawsuit loan companies can vary dramatically but it is usually best to stick with the larger companies, like Global Financial (http://www.glofin.com) because their larger volume of work allows for lower pricing. Usually a funding company will charge either a monthly fee or a flat fee depending on the risk associated with the claim. Claimants should ask themselves one question before applying for a cash advance against their pending claim; will the advance received pay the immediate and necessary living expenses? A cash advance should be accepted only if the answer is yes. If the answer is no then it might be wise to hold off and wait before applying for a lawsuit loan or cash advance against a pending claim. In addition, a lawsuit loan may be a very important tool when the defendants insurance carrier decides to make a lowball offer for settlement in the claim. The claimant can then use a lawsuit loan as a financial tool to say no to the lowball offer and have the financial strength to wait for a higher and fairer settlement. If a plaintiff takes a cash advance against the pending legal claim and the claim is then unsuccessful, the plaintiff gets to keep the money that was advanced. Thus the cash advance guarantees that the claim will be financially successful either by way of the cash advance or by way of settlement or judgment. Most of the companies advance clients and attorneys the funds they may need while their cases are pending. This can eliminate any uncomfortable ethical questions between the client and the attorney. Companies allow the attorney to complete his or her case strategy, helping to avoid early and less profitable settlements. Some companies assess the qualifications of the case within 48 hours after receipt of the required case file material. If approved, the check is often sent the very next day.
